Since its founding in 1885, Yonsei University has been the gold standard of higher education in Korea. Its mission has been simple yet ambitious: to provide future global leaders with an elite, interdisciplinary and international education. With its enduring commitment to international education and its world-wide network of partner institutions, Yonsei University has played a crucial role in advancing the study of Korea's long history and cultural heritage. Yonsei is recognized today throughout Asia and the world as Korea¡¯s most innovative, internationalized, and inclusive university.
Underwood International College (UIC), established in 2005, serves as an all-English honors college within Yonsei University that combines the intimate and rigorous academic environment of a liberal arts program with the resources of a major research university. The goal: to provide a challenging, interdisciplinary, Ivy League-caliber education to an elite student body from around the globe. By having preeminent academics devote one-on-one attention to their students, UIC ensures that its graduates become capable critical thinkers, global leaders and responsible citizens. With the majority of classes limited to fewer than 30 students, UIC maintains a supportive and stimulating academic community both at the main campus in downtown Seoul and at the new International Campus in Songdo.
